UMS Secures Enbridge Gas Distribution Ltd., Load Research Natural Gas Monitoring Contract

(Whitby, Ont.) Utilities Management Solutions Ltd. will be providing the natural gas monitoring services for the Enbridge Load Research Program, commencing January 1, 2009. In keeping with UMS's commitment to promoting energy management and conservation throughout Canada they will be responsible for assisting Enbridge Gas Distribution Ltd, in delivering their Demand Side Management and Load Research Programs.
Enbridge Gas Distribution Ltd. is the largest distributor of natural gas in Canada with 1.7 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in Southern and Eastern Ontario Enbridge Gas Distribution Ltd. has implemented many energy efficient programs like Load Research to promote a culture of energy conservation amongst it's customers. Load Research is a program dedicated to monitoring natural gas consumption on it's customers end-use appliances, e.g. tankless water heaters, furnaces, fireplaces, dryers.
The Load Research Program assists Enbridge in evaluating their customers average natural gas usage over certain periods of time. It allows them to forecast natural gas usage and determine fair rates for their customer base, keeping them competitive in the Canadian utility sector. The program also determines the efficiency rates of certain appliances allowing them to launch appliance rebate programs to help it's customers purchase new more efficient appliances and lessen their impact on climate change. Jeremy Laprairie, President of UMS indicated that the Enbridge program was a perfect fit for the company. These programs are desperately needed to help cope with the energy and environmental complexities we face in the 21st Century."
